William's Prize

Wil has a new reward chart for staying in bed. He has done really well, in fact so well he filled his first row full of stickers and got his pick of a prize. He chose PIZZA! I thought he would want to go the pizza resturant but no he just wanted the pizza man to come over and drop it off, how easy for me? He loved it!

"HEY GUYS! LOOK A NUMBER 3!!!" So we looked and to our amazement there WAS a number 3 on his pizza!

Hola!

Today Wil had a special event at school, Spanish Fiesta. They put on a show, sang songs that they have been practicing in music and in Spanish class. Most of the songs showed off the words they have been learning during the year.

YEAH!!!!

Isn't that sweet he's sharing his snack!.....(like she gave him much of a choice)

Spring has Sprung

The weather is wonderful and we're all enjoying it.
The garden has been planted....

The flowers are in bloom...

And we're spending the weekends outside. Today we visited Wil's favorite park, the firetruck park. It a bit of a drive so we don't get to go often but this turned out to be the perfect day!

Yesterday, Saturday, was a crazy day...HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!!
We spent a few hours out at the National Sea Shore Park enjoying great music, and lots of educational booths. Wil was sent on a scavenger hunt, he had a little booklet he had to take around to every booth where he was to learn information and then answer a question. If he answered the question correct they stamped his book. In the end he got a prize, a little rubber butterfly! But really the prize was all the knowledge he gained and the path he had to take to get all his stamps. I think the top three booths were the pinch pot table, he got to make a pinch pot and learned that the 'Mad Potter' who lived almost 200 years ago had a mustache (like Papa) but his was 2 feet long, he could tuck it behind his ears! The other fact he found to be silly was that long ago people used the Sweet Gum Tree to brush their teeth! Now think like a 3yr old he probably pictured people rubbing their teeth on the tree or people taking branches and scrubbing their teeth, silly! He also learned the state bird, Northern Mocking Bird, and the state reptile, Alligator. Something he wouldn't do that Claira did was touch a horseshoe crab. She thought that was fantastic. But mostly she ran around picking up sticks and playing in the shrimp net. The shrimp net was neat. It was set up so show how it had a escape hatch type thing for the sea turtles. Now Claira didn't care much why it had this neat trap door but she had fun climbing through it and William did learn and have fun.
Like this event wasn't enough for the day I had to rush Wil over to a place called 'Pump It Up' for his friends birthday party. What a crazy place that is. A large building full of blow-up equipment, jump houses, slides, mazes etc. They played till they were red in the face, crazy and starving. That is the best time to shovel 3 pieces of pizza, 1 piece of cake, an ice cream and 2 juice boxes! William left sweaty, sugar high, and excited to tell his little sister all about it.
We returned home to find Claira just waking up from her nap and a clean house, Daddy was busy while we were gone!!!! The kids enjoyed their party favors, yes Claira got favors too! And Wil even asked his friends mommy if he could bring an ice cream home for her, their really is a sweet boy within that crazy 3 year old boy.

Bear Cub Club

Today I remembered to take my camera and actually use it at Bear Cub Club. This is an activity we do almost weekly at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. They have a wonderful teacher Ms. Cathy, she is a retired 2nd grade teacher. During the 1 1/2 class they do puzzles, pretend/dress-up, sing songs, dance, read stories & end in a craft. Today was all about eating healthy and our craft was a silly face out of fruit shapes, banana, oranges, broccoli and a strawberry. Wil thought it was hallarious and called his the "Banana Man"

One of the kids favorite songs goes like this, "Throw you Teddy Bear and catch, Turn around, Turn around, JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!...Put him on your head and walk around the room..."

Today Wil was lucky and had his good friend, Megan, with him and this is them playing in the canoe. It is a real canoe that you sit in and paddle, and it projects you onto a TV screan with a real river scene in the back ground. I have no idea how it works but as you paddle on way it actually has you turn and move down the stream! The kids think it is great, of corse this is when they were pretending a waterfall was coming! AHHHHHHHH!!!!

Fairy Princess & Pirates

Imaginations were going wild by 6 am at our house this morning.

So much to do, So little time

Ok, so I am going to do a little catch-up here. And when I find more time I will write something more exciting, this is mostly a picture post (my favorite kind anyway!)

Andy has been working a lot lately and to get some special time with Wil it has to be late at night (7pm, after Wil's bed time) or during sun rise. Two things he has been begging his Daddy to do with him is fishing and checkers. As you can see Wil did catch a little catfish, he was so proud. And the checkers game he begged to play at 5:45am lasted all of 3 minutes, he had no idea how to play nor did he want to learn.

Claira got a package in the mail from Nana and like all kids the box was a bigger hit then the contents, but now that the box has fallen apart the backpack is the coolest thing in the house. How much of my room can I fit in my backpack and sneak into the car?

Internal Tibial Torsion

Claira has been formaly diagnosed with Internal Tibial Torsion. Most know this as pigeon-toed. This is when the large bone in the lower leg is rotated inward. When she was born her right foot was smashed and really twisted inward. They told us it would plump up and fix itself. Well it did plump up but it didn't turn out to be "normal". Since she has been walking for almost 8 months now and has learned to run and ride her bike. She hates shoes and almost always has bloody toes and knees from falling due to her feet. There is really nothing they do now for Internal Tibial Torsion. When Andy was little they used Denis-Browne splints, an 8- to 12- inch bar, worn at night, with the feet facing out at about 45 degrees. This device seemed to work quite well but was never actually tested. When it was tested in 1991 it did prove to work but no better then doing nothing. So the new recomendation is to do nothing just watch her trip and fall and wait till she learns how to deal with her silly feet or grow out of it. If the feet still turn inward by more than 15 degrees at age five, spontaneous correction is unlikely. For these children, surgical de-rotation is an effective treatment. The best window for this is between 7 or 8 and 10 years of age. Claira's case is very minimal compared to pictures I've seen and there is an upside, studies show for those whose internal tibial torsion doesn't completely correct, but doesn't qualify for surgery tend to be athletes. The fastest runners tend to fall in this category. Top sprinters, in particular, are significantly more likely to be in-toed than the general population.
